Been There

All of the projects on this site are heavily linked to travel; it’s something that we just love to do. We are certainly not the sorts to invest in a time-share and go back to the same place over and over again, we want the added experience and excitement of going somewhere new. So, this brilliant map tracks the countries we have been to and, for the U.S. and Canada, we have identified the individual states and provinces.

Jan went on a rather exceptional jaunt in 1978-79, a school trip around the Mediterranean, where she ticked off Cyprus, Israel and Turkey. She also got to visit Romania and Thailand on trips when she was working at the University. On my list are Slovakia and Russia – both football jaunts – the first was a 24-hour dash to see Hull City’s first ever European game and the second for the 2018 World Cup. The one slight glitch with the recording system is that we have both been to Switzerland, but separately, so for the moment it stays unticked until we go together. Finally, no we haven’t been to French Guyana, but it gets highlighted as being a colony of, and therefore a part of, France.
